Travelling alone for a Seoul clinic visit: name the support

Travelling without a companion still requires a plan for the moments when another person may be needed. Start with the clinic’s requirements, then attach a confirmed person or arrangement to each one.

The short version

Keep in mind

  • Save clinic contacts, accommodation details and confirmed appointments together.
  • Tell SAC your travel window, language and existing bookings when asking about preparation, interpretation or accompaniment.

Ask the clinic first

Tell the clinic you will be travelling alone before finalizing the trip. Ask whether someone must collect you, remain with you afterward, or attend particular appointments—and what responsibilities that person must cover.

Get required visits and follow-up contacts in writing. A hotel reservation and a taxi ride do not confirm that the clinic’s support requirements have been met.

Make the handovers explicit

List the meeting point, time, language and named contact for each appointment. Separate transport, interpretation and personal accompaniment: those people may have different roles.

If someone brings you back to your accommodation, confirm what happens after they leave. Ask about support hours and the contact for changes; overnight or continuous assistance must never be assumed.

Check the everyday details

Look beyond distance when choosing accommodation. Check entrances, lifts, drop-off access, room access and reception hours against your arrival and clinic appointments.

Plan how to obtain meals and essentials, keep your phone charged and return for follow-up. Check how you would extend the stay or change a journey if the appointment schedule changes.
