Interpreter, coordinator or concierge: agree who does what

Several people may help with one appointment, but their responsibilities differ. Before your Seoul visit, confirm who each person represents and which tasks are included.

The short version

Keep in mind

  • Check foreign-patient facilitator registration through official Medical Korea sources before paying.
  • Confirm language support for the particular appointment, not simply the clinic in general.

Inside the clinic

The clinic coordinator handles its appointments, documents and policies. Their explanations represent that clinic; ask the clinician to confirm medical recommendations and request written estimates.

During the conversation

An interpreter communicates your questions and the clinician’s answers. Confirm the language, who employs the interpreter and whether the clinic permits an outside interpreter to attend.

For consent and risks, request complete interpretation. Being able to exchange everyday English does not settle every question about understanding a treatment discussion.

Across your visit

A concierge can organize preparation, appointments, accompaniment and agreed follow-up communication. Ask what is included, the available hours and who handles questions after you leave.

At SAC, one case has one payer: either you or the clinic pays the coordination fee. The payer, scope and charge are stated in writing; treatment charges go directly to the clinic.
